UNTIL THE VIOLENCE STOPS: Detroit is a two-week long festival raising awareness and funds to bring the issues of violence against women and girls center stage in our city. The festival issues a call to action to all citizens of Detroit, through theatre, art, spoken word, photography, performance and community events: demand an end to violence against women and girls,
and become an active partner in ending it.

After her sister was brutally murdered by a former boyfriend in 1999, Christine* of Macomb County began reaching out to women everywhere with words of hope and strength and inspiration.
"If I don't tell her story, he wins," said Christine, now taking her cause one step further with two acting roles as part of the Until the Violence Stops: Detroit festival.
The festival showcases four pieces of live theater — including Eve Ensler's celebrated "Vagina Monologues," in which Christine will perform — as well as four films, a self-defense class and poetry night.
